Outdoors
Outside the lounge and ground floor bedroom is an enclosed stone-paved patio area of nearly 50 sq.m. which is a sheltered sun-trap (when the sun shines!) There is a long hardwood table and chairs with padded seats…
and a large, easy to use gas-fired barbecue….
From the patio gateway, a few steps take you to a flat area by the pond, where you can relax and enjoy a variety of wildlife…often large numbers of dragonflies in the summer. You may also see a variety of birds including wagtails, kingfishers, swifts and swallows, and occasionally a heron.
Further from the house is a grassed recreation area including a swing and sandpit for children. You can also use this area for badminton (we have a net and rackets we can lend you). There are a few outdoor toys and games which should be of interest to children of all ages!
Away from the buildings you will have access to a regularly-mown field where you can play ball games, fly a kite, or have a picnic. Here there are great views towards Dartmoor and surrounding woodland.
There is ample on-site parking, good external lighting, and the entrance gate can be locked for security.
Games Room
A large part of the barn has been retained in the original full-height form, internally displaying exposed oak vaulted roof trusses and exposed thatch; This is now the spectacular games room . It is well lit but unheated and features…
- Full sized table tennis table; bats and balls provided
- Full-sized pool table with full set of snooker balls, billiards balls, various sizes of cues etc.
- Cross-trainer with programmable exercise settings
Safety and Courtesy
Please try to be reasonably quiet after 22:30, as although we have no near neighbours, sound carries in the countryside.
We (and our insurance company) do not allow smoking in the house, and there must be no open fires in the courtyard area near the house. The gas-fired barbecue can be used in the area allocated on the patio, or can be moved onto a recreation area near the orchard.
